About Dr Mani Makhija

Mani was awarded the Fellowship of the RCPA in August 2016, following periods as a Dermatopathology Fellow at the Skin and Cancer Foundation Australia and then Kossard Dermatopathologists.
Mani completed his undergraduate Medical studies in Medicine at Grant Medical College, Mumbai University in 2001, finishing third in his college. He then trained in Pathology at TN Medical College, Mumbai, finishing second in his final M D pathology exams, follow which the Indian National Board of Examinations awarded Mani the Diplomate of National Board in Pathology.
Mani’s interest in Dermatopathology began as a Senior Registrar in Anatomical and Cytopathology at the University College of Medical Sciences in Delhi. In 2011,he worked at Dr Lal PathLab’s National Reference Centre (a College of American Pathologists accredited laboratory) in Delhi. In 2014, he completed an observership in Dermatopathology at the prestigious Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology, in New York, USA, under the guidance of Dr Dirk Elston.

Mani has a keen interest in clinicopathologic correlation. A regular attendee at the various clinical dermatology meetings around teaching hospitals in Sydney; Mani works closely with Dermatology Registrar contemporaries, posting instructive cases and images on social media for their continuing education.
